We stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services
Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets’ complete health care needs.
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We perform soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. LASER is used routinely for many surgeries. Below are some benefits to LASER surgery (read more):
Less Bleeding: As it cuts, the laser seals small blood vessels. This drastic reduction in bleeding enables a number of new surgical procedures that are not practical with conventional scalpel.
Less Pain: The CO2 laser beam seals nerve endings and lymphatics, resulting in less edema and pain. The patient experiences a far more comfortable post-operative recovery.
Reduced risk of infection: This is one of the unique features of the CO2 laser beam. It efficiently kills bacteria in its path, producing a sterilizing effect.
Quicker recovery time: Reduced risk of infection, less bleeding, less pain and less swelling often allow the patient a far quicker recovery after the surgery.
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient’s vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen saturation, continuous EKG) are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Internal Medicine Consults
We offer in-hospital ultrasounds, an external expert is called in to perform endoscopic procedures as necessary. Dr. Forrest Hayes is our external expert conducting these procedures.
We offer artificial insemination (using fresh/frozen semen, surgical insemination with semen shipped from out-of-state, planned C-sections, neonatal/puppies care).
Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing (dental prophylaxis), dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
We offer Home Again microchip identification. A HomeAgain microchip is permanent pet ID. The microchip itself has no internal energy source, so it will last the life of your pet. It is read by passing a microchip scanner over the pet’s shoulder blades. The scanner emits a low radio frequency that provides the power necessary to transmit the microchips unique cat or dog ID code and positively identify the pet.
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
Individualized Flea Control Programs
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. We recommend ROYAL CANIN PRODUCTS.
We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.
Exotic pets require special needs both at home and at the veterinary hospital. Roman Animal Hospital cares for patients running the gambit from “pocket pets” to reptiles. We are equipped to offer treatment for a variety of exotics’ conditions, and can offer advice on proper conditions for their home environment.
